Short, brief discussion on hamstring eccentric strength development and injury reduction, comparing the Nordic Hamstring Curl against the Hamstring Razor Curl. Both exercises serve a purpose in an overall athletic development/rehab program, however, which one comes out on top?
Strong Enough?
Coaches have argued and debated for a while now on the topic of “can we ever truly be strong enough?” Strength in general is an important characteristic as it essentially underpins and impacts all elements of our way of life. At CAMBERED our philosophy is based off of building strong individuals both physically and mentally, however chasing the genetic ceiling may not be the goal of everyone. In this article, I breakdown my point’s of view on this matter, and encourage people to see my perspective.
Blood Flow Restriction
Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training involves restricting blood flow proximal to an exercising muscle in an attempt to reduce venous return from the limb. By doing so, we can induce similar physical and physiological adaptations to that of training at higher intensities (>70% 1RM), with lighter loads. This article was a review of the scientific literature on BFR, as I delved into investigating the concepts of BFR, to analyse, and to provide coaches, athletes and strength and conditioning professionals with a greater knowledge of the benefits, as well as the potential risks, associated with the various techniques of BFR training systems
