I’m Steven Dimi, the director/owner and head strength & conditioning coach at Cambered Strength & Conditioning. A former state level Victorian footballer, I decided to end my career and passion for football, to embark on the journey to be a leading strength and conditioning professional in the sports and high performance industry of Australia.
For the past 6 years, I’ve has worked tirelessly to establish my craft as a high performance and physical preparation specialist. I’ve worked at various sporting clubs, and with a variety of athletes, including; ex-AFL, ex-Aleague and semi-professional athletes at the senior mens VFL and NPL state level, as well as, elite state level junior male and female athletes at NAB league and NPL level. I’ve also had the privilege to have worked in multiple private high performance centres, providing and coaching strength and conditioning programs and injury rehabilitation programs for a number of personal clients, and aspiring athletes from different sporting backgrounds and sporting codes. Also, over the course of my strength and conditioning career, I’ve mentored and supported a number of young, aspiring S&C coaches through the processes of the Australian Strength & Conditioning Associations mentorship set up.
As a coach, I’ve always tried to empower everyone that works with me. My mantra is “strength - it’s more then just a physical trait, rather a way of life and resilience.” This I reflect through my philosophy of coaching, in that, building strong, robust individuals goes way beyond physical strength. Through my strength and conditioning training systems and methods, I strive to instil in my athletes high performance standards of behaviour. Driving home the message that; a hard work ethic, determination and consistency, all whilst staying accountable for your actions and behaviours will construct the mindset to achieving greatness. But it’s not just coaching which I love, I’m also passionate in providing knowledge and education to athletes, coaches and parents. I have a genuine desire to help others, and a love for building strong, and caring, professional working relationships with people.
Over the course of my career, spanning 8+ years, I had also worked as a school sporting coach, delivering junior-based school sports programs to schools all throughout Victoria. This eventuated into a strength and conditioning and physical education role, in which I developed and implemented P.E curricular physical education programs to a vast array of VCE students from a number of schools throughout Victoria, along with health and fitness based programs for all other high school P.E students. This role provided me with the opportunity to even be a presenter at the Victorian ASHPER Conference in 2017, where I was fortunate enough to take a small group of P.E and health teachers through a practical presentation on how to incorporate new exercise and sports science activities for the health and fitness of students. Junior athletic development is yet another passion of mine due to the invaluable reward we receive as coaches when we see young people achieve their sporting goals, and then going on to be exceptional adult athletes. Thus, I continue to work with junior athletes, and CSC has put itself forward to continue the work I was involved in with schools around Vic.
Throughout this entire period, I’ve also obtained my Masters Degree in Exercise Science (S&C) and I’m an Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) Level 2 Coach.
