MID-END STAGE INJURY REHABILITATION:

The unfortunate truth about being an athlete is that injuries are inevitable. Athlete’s can suffer an injury from a number of different circumstances, situations or scenarios. These may include; having poor motor skills, poor mechanics, poor lifting technique, bad posture, fatigue, playing contact sports, overtraining or genetic predispositions.

Injuries can come in the form of impacts, collisions, contusions, strains, sprains, ruptures, tears, dislocations, broken bones and concussions (just to name a few!). In many cases, some of these things potentially could have been avoided; other times its something that’s in the nature of the sport (which an athlete participates in) and is unavoidable. Nevertheless, with competition comes the risk of sustaining an injury, and at CSC we strive on assisting athletes to getting back out there through our structured and progressive, mid-to-end stage rehabilitation and reconditioning protocols.

Returning to training and sporting performance can be a daunting, psychological venture for many athletes, especially if the injury (which was sustained) caused a lengthy time out. Through our coaching methods and modalities, we strive to nurture, assist and guide athletes through their rehabilitation as they embark on their journey of returning to play.

Athlete’s, who fail to prepare themselves accordingly, and rush the rehabilitative process, increase their risk of re-injury substantially. Statistics like;

  • 20% of athletes will re-rupture an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) if they engaged in a poor return to sport protocol

  • A premature return to sport following a hamstring strain has resulted in roughly 30% of athletes re-straining their hamstring again within a year

  • Once an ankle sprain occurs, up to 80% of athletes will suffer recurrent sprains

  • Athletes who return to play prematurely whilst suffering from shoulder instability, are roughly 37% - 90% likely of
    re-injuring the shoulder again

This is why it’s vital that an athlete partakes in a return to play program to achieve and reach a level of physical and physiological performance, greater then what they were previously (prior to the injury). CSC understands this, and aspires to facilitate specific and suitable mid-to-end stage return to play programs and measures, with a strong focus and emphasis on athlete education throughout the entire process.

By analysing and breaking down the key components, movement patterns and energy systems of an athlete’s sport, at CSC we design and implement comprehensive programs which aim at re-developing all the necessary components of fitness, like strength, speed, power, agility, coordination and endurance to an athletes performance, as well as, provide structured injury reduction strategies to bulletproof athletes from re-injury. We also work hard to encourage our athletes through the process, and provide the platform for them to gradually re-instil the confidence within them to perform.
